SCHOOL ON WHEELS AT UCLA
SERVICES
Who are we?
We are the UCLA based chapter of School on Wheels. SOW aims to support students, grades K-12 academically, facing homelessness in the greater Los Angeles region. Our volunteers provide tutoring to these students with the intent to empower them to obtain higher education.
Our Vision
SOW at UCLA seeks to empower K-12 students academically and inspire interests in achieving higher education. Through tutoring, we strive to relieve educational inequities and foster a community conducive to creating resilient learners.
Additional Services
SOW at UCLA also functions to advocate and give resources to the underserved homeless population through inviting guest speakers, holding school supply and technology drives, and researching updates on policy surrounding the homelessness crisis.
ABOUT
Welcome to School on Wheels at UCLA
“Since 1993, the mission of School on Wheels has never wavered: to enhance educational opportunities for children who are experiencing homelessness from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Our goal is to shrink the gaps in their learning and provide them with the highest level of education possible.”

We hope to contribute to SOW’s mission by giving UCLA students opportunities to give back to the community through tutoring, fundraising, and bringing awareness to K-12 students facing transitional living. Additionally, SOW at UCLA is motivated to reframe and destigmatize narratives of homelessness by giving a voice to these students.
